Portland hip-hop/rap carries the elements of traditional hip-hop/rap mixed with the relaxed vibes that come from the Pacific Northwest.
Coming from the Northeast, I gravitated towards the Portland hip-hop community just weeks after getting settled in Portland and was welcomed by the community with open arms. From there, I would continue to document many of the local hip-hop/rap shows in the city which eventually lead me to create this project.
This project helps to shine a light on the artist and DJs who have paved the way and put on for the city while also talking about the troubles that come with bringing a unique sound to a city like Portland.
The Nike Hoop Summit showcases America's top mens and womens high school seniors against the best players from around the world who are 19 years old or younger.
The Black News Future Series is a 3-part panel series (hosted by Bruce Poinsette) that explores the current state of Black news media in Portland and the future of the local landscape. Each panel features Portland’s Black media community guests, ranging from columnists to podcasters to editors and more.

Thousands of Bostonians gathered in wake of the death of George Floyd. Protesters proceeded through the City of Boston starting in Boston’s Nubian Square marching to the State House, adding their voices to the dozens of protests across the nation that erupted after George Floyd's death.
